About

Jed Michael, M.S., L.Ac. has maintained apprenticeships with modern masters of traditional East Asian medicine for over half of his life, while remaining clinically grounded under the guidance of a master MD since 2002. He has earned praise from a truly extraordinary variety of people for his ability to provide relief, assist healing, and enhance performance. He currently practices acupuncture full time at the Lourdes Hospital Department of Integrative Medicine Center For Pain And Wellness in Binghamton, NY.

In 2002, while still a student, he was recruited and mentored by clinical researcher Kenneth R. Ginsburg, MD, of the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine, to design and administer clinical trials of holistic medical procedures and approaches. He spent the next decade surveying the complementary health field, determining what techniques worked; why, and which might be the most valuable to medical and social work practice. At the time, such an honor was unheard of. This research concluded in December, 2012. During that time, Mr. Michael became nationally known for his work on stress reduction. He has lectured coast to coast for some of the finest medical schools in the country, and regularly consulted with hospitals and other organizations to streamline their services, providing concrete skill sets to clinicians interested in offering the best possible patient/client experience. In addition, he was frequently invited to provide inpatient consults with complex cases at one of Philadelphia's top academic hospitals.

For over 8 years, he held the title of Stress Reduction Specialist at Covenant House Pennsylvania, a crisis center dedicated to serving homeless and marginalized youth, where he practiced street medicine and harm reduction education. While there, he served as a clinical preceptor for Bridging The Gaps, an internationally recognized program for medical students seeking to distinguish themselves as clinical scholars.

Since 2006, Jed has traveled the country with multiple mixed martial arts promotions, including the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC), providing the benefits of ancient Chinese battle medicine to some of the very best combat athletes and coaches on Earth. His abilities resolving musculoskeletal dysfunction and enhancing both physical and mental performance are respected by some of the greatest martial artists and combat athletes of our time.

Jed was honored to create the stress reduction curriculum for the Veteran’s Administration’s VISN2 leadership program, as well as completing a clinical internship at their Canandaigua, NY hospital. He's also contributed a chapter to Building Resilience In Children And Teens, a notable book published by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Building Resilience is currently used by the Military Child Education Coalition to educate providers to identify, prevent and counter worrisome behaviors in the families of military youth, and is also used by the United Nations to educate resident providers in war-torn regions of the world, such as the former Yugoslavia.

Mr. Michael views healthcare as a collaborative process, and brings his deep and abiding passion for wellness to every treatment.
